“The Chipotle I work at is the first to ever unionize—and that would not have been possible without the early guidance, resources, and support of Greater Lansing DSA”

For a Fighting Working Class

To win transformative changes, we need to build up a fighting working class that understands the depth of its own power by winning strikes, organizing drives, and more. Our solidarity work helps workers recognize the power they hold.

We also build our connections across the terrain of working class organizations by showing up for labor struggle. Solidarity is a verb—donating today means we’ll be ready to act tomorrow!

A Catalyst for Class Struggle

We have a vast network of organizers who are ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with workers, and our national solidarity fund will support them in their solidarity work across the country.

DSA members provide valuable support in addition to being on the picket line: researching employer vulnerabilities, designing leaflets, creating media strategy, fundraising, and more. Collectively, we can be a catalyst for class struggle.

FAQ

‣
How does DSA's national labor solidarity fund work?
🌹
The purpose of the labor solidarity fund is to provide financial support for DSA members engaged in strike support or other expressions of working-class struggle (i.e. union drives, “fight back” campaigns, etc). Reimbursements will be disbursed from the national DSA organization’s account once they are approved. According to our solidarity fund bylaws, the labor solidarity fund is supervised by the elected DSA National Labor Commission (NLC) Steering Committee and the NLC Treasurer, providing regular reports to the NLC Steering Committee, the DSA National Political Committee, and the NLC’s general membership. Solidarity captains, representing their DSA chapters, submit grant requests to the fund, and the NLC will work with the DSA chapter to develop an organizing plan & strategy.
‣
Who approves how money is spent?
☑️
In most cases, Solidarity Captains, on behalf of DSA chapters or labor formations, will submit requests for grants. The NLC and its fundraising committee will review submissions and work with chapters to develop an organizing plan / strategy that will be submitted for approval by the NLC Steering Committee. Proposals sent to the NLC Steering Committee will be decided by a simple majority vote, before being submitted for review by DSA’s national compliance officer and final approval by the National Political Committee.
‣
